Se titula Hollywood en Don Torcuato – Las aventuras de Roger Corman y Héctor Olivera. En su momento se lo ofrecí a algunas editoriales, que no mostraron interés, y lo presenté en algún concurso, también sin suerte. Tenía la idea de autoeditarme en papel, pero nunca tuve la guita para hacerlo, y ahora el contexto de la pandemia empeora las cosas. Así que decidí lanzarlo así, gratis, en digital. Más adelante, cuando todo esto pase, veré si puedo imprimir al menos una tirada chica.Con guerreros y amazonas, magos y hechiceras, narcotraficantes y agentes encubiertos, asesinos y mujeres fatales, Hollywood -o al menos algo bastante parecido- desembarcó en Buenos Aires de la mano de Corman como nunca lo había hecho y jamás volvería a hacerlo en la historia del cine nacional. Toda esa historia se cuenta en cerca de 240 páginas que incluyen 26 testimonios originales de actores, técnicos y artistas argentinos y extranjeros involucrados en esos rodajes. El libro tiene además 65 imágenes (una buena parte, inéditas) y mucho, mucho material de archivo.
Mi interés en el tema había comenzado hace más de una década, cuando publiqué una serie de entradas en este blog que narraban esa historia. Pero aquellos textos tienen varias inexactitudes, algunos errores y, sobre todo, un tono que hoy no me gusta. En este libro traté de subsanar todo eso, y además profundicé en las historias y los personajes involucrados e indagué acerca de los motivos de esa curiosa -para algunos, insospechada- asociación entre el rey de la clase B y la productora de cine nacional más exitosa de los años setenta y ochenta.
Pueden descargarlo acá, gratis, en dos versiones: una en formato PDF, maquetado como un libro tradicional y con imágenes; y otra en EPUB, por si quieren leerlo en un e-reader. Y, por supuesto, están invitados a compartirlo con quien quieran. ■

Me enteré que Tripodero está preparando un documental sobre Roger Corman en Argentina, ojalá tengas algún tipo de participación en el mismo.
Aporto un dato de color con el que me topé la semana pasada: Estaba leyendo El señor de los venenos, la autobiografía de Enrique Symns, y cuando comenta sobre su adicción a la cocaína en los 80 dice que trabajó como "experto para instruirlo en el mundo de las drogas" para Fernando Ayala en la película Sobredosis (película donde aparecía el grupo punk Los Violadores).
Cuenta que era en la misma época que en los estudios de Ayala estaban filmando películas extranjeras, así que cada tanto iba a los baños y se pegaba un saque de merca con "soldados romanos" y "espectaculares esclavas culonas".
De todas maneras creo que como todo lo que escribió Symns no sabremos cuanto es verdad, cuanto mentira y cuanto exageración.
